Venture into a re-imagined universe where humanity’s last stand is at hand in Destiny Rising, the first mobile RPG shooter from Bungie and NetEase Games. Available worldwide on August 28, 2025, and free-to-play, the release brings this epic sci-fi universe to mobile in a way that’s never been seen before by Destiny fans new and old.
Centuries before the events of the original Destiny, Rising takes place during humanity’s “City Age,” a shaky period of recovery from an alien-triggered apocalyptic disaster known as the Collapse. As a reincarnated Lightbearer, reborn with the help of Ghost known as Zev, explore Haven, a city under the Traveler where you will fight together against an evil force—The Shroud—and its armies. This alternate continuity guarantees a degree of narrative autonomy from the main series, while upholding Destiny’s enduring theme of sacrifice and perseverance.
Destiny Rising transfers the franchise’s core looter-shooter mechanics to mobile with finesse. Imbibe crushibles through first-person or third-person, finding mastery among heroes such as Wolf, Ikora and the enigmatic Gwynn; each with their own abilities and customizable skill trees. Launch into the multiplonder with new sets of Nightfall, Raid, and PvP gear to earn or purchase using your accumulated clan tokens. The games’ shared world allows for easy transitions between individual campaigns, clan-based encounters and impromptu bouts — all with support for multiple inputs, be it touchscreen (from which you’d play across the domestic network or lobby), controllers or mouse or keyboard via NetEase’s MuMuPlayer emulator.
Grounded in Destiny alien DNA, Rising brings gatcha elements with its “Charms” system. Acquire these token through quests or events to recruit new heroes or upgrade gear, as chance will have it and resources can be wisely managed. Critics point out that while gacha mechanics exist, they are less intrusive than in other mobile games with generous free rewards and none of the pay-to-win traps. Players laud the depth of character builds, where artifacts and weapons combine to form unique playstyles — whether you’re a healer support or a damage-dealing titan.
With beautiful 5K-ready art and environments such as the snow-capped Giangi Metro or neon-drenched Red Sea Rift, Rising represents hardware-rubbing at its best. NetEase’s engine promises 90fps performance on supported iPads, with adaptive settings for smooth play on other devices. Veteran Destiny composers create a battle hymn that will have your blood pumping, and once you’ve experienced some of the most intuitive spatial sound in gaming today, you’ll be leaping into more dimensions and worlds than you knew were real.
With many pre-registrations, Destiny Rising has already attracted a lively community. Join clans to share world events, social hubs and season-long leaderboards. Regular updates promise more heroes, maps and modes to keep the battle against the Shroud feeling fresh.
Destiny Rising is not just a mobile port—it's also a love letter to fans and the perfect next step in an already compelling franchise. The admirable manin Child of Light that Destiny’s soul marries, is action-packed gameplay that’s easy to get into and hard to leave behind. Whether you’re protecting the walls of Haven, or racing through the canyons of a futuristic city, there’s one ride no Guardian should be without.
