Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games are always fun and exciting to play because of how competitive they can be. That is the reason why a lot of games in this genre are well-liked by many. Marvel Super War is similar to other MOBA games, the base game mode sees 10 players face off in a 5v5 setup. There are three available lanes in the game, where three defense towers protect each lane. Minions also spawn regularly and continuously move toward the enemy base. Of course, the main difference is that this game will be using all the famous characters of the Marvel Universe. I’m not a massive MARVEL fan by any means, but seeing the huge IP as a MOBA game must be quite exciting to many of you players!
GRAPHICS
The graphics in Marvel Super War look fresh and realistic. The game’s settings are even more futuristic than the usual settings you see in other MOBA games. It feels like you’re battling on the grounds of Asgard. You can see Wakanda in the background behind your hero. The menus and transitions are all suitably futuristic to match the setting. The best part about it is that Marvel characters are designed according to their respective comic book versions, with their powers and looks to match. Character models are quite well done, across the base heroes and their various skins. It’s easy to tell at a glance who’s who, and what they’re wearing, for the fans of the characters.
GAMEPLAY
All the hallmarks of the MOBA gameplay design are present, with unavoidable jungle action and many other features taken from proven recipes like League of Legends, DOTA, and similar games. Each player has a Marvel comic book hero to control, the main objective of the game is to destroy the enemy base. The map of the game is set in Wakanda. The player has 2 meters: green represents HP, blue represents EP. There are 2 types of buffs: blue and red buffs are provided in the game to improve gameplay. There are 2 entities between the areas of each team, which will appear after a period of time after the start of the game: the incarnations of Bast and Surtur. Players can eliminate one or two of them to provide additional rewards for their team. Players can also summon Surtur to attack the enemy base.
As with all MOBAs, some heroes will be open for everyone, some will have to be unlocked (or bought). The shop is where you can purchase heroes and skins. There are three currencies: Coins, Crystals, and Star Credits. Star Credits can be converted into Crystals. Heroes can be bought with any of the currencies where applicable. Skins are only purchasable using Star Credits and are just cosmetic. Star Credit is the premium currency in the game, so they’re mostly available if you buy them with money. There are also in-app purchases, but they’re mostly for different characters’ skins and won’t provide an advantage. The developers want a fair game, so spending money doesn’t mean you have an advantage.
REVIEW
Marvel Super War doesn’t offer anything new in terms of gameplay, but things are of course improved by adding our favorite comic book characters in, which is a recipe for success. It is fun and entertaining to see your favorite character performing their skills and abilities on the battlefield as they try to defeat enemies. It's like comic book characters jumping off the page and into the game to fight for you. Featuring an ever-expanding roster of heroes and villains, the game has certainly become a fan-favorite and it intends of staying that way. All in all, if you're a Marvel fan, this game is for you!
